I used to cover some older cushions that were faded but still had much use. The dark wine color worked well and did not show color through. The inner coating is plastic so I have little doubt of being water resistant on the covered part. The bottoms and backs are only partially covered as expected but this is not an issue since the pattern underneath matched the wine color I chose. I don't know how fast they will fade but for the price I can replace down the road. I wish there were stings to tie to chairs to help prevent blow away during our big wind storms but might decide to use the straps from the old ones and just move and resew to these. It is doing the job, fit the cushions, and looks like new.
